Dessert pick of the week: Shahi Tukda at Culture Curry, Mahim.

A slice of bread soaked in clarified butter, laced with a smattering of malai, some roasted nuts tossed in and four rose petals. 60 seconds of pure heaven. Bread never tasted this good!

Laptop shopping should climax this weekend. It’s either Dell or Vaio, though a little birdie recommended the 12.1 inch screen Acer 2920.

We checked out the Dell counter at Chroma in Malad. Probably need to get it delivered to Vasai, so I can do away with the 5.5 per cent OCTROI rip-off.

I received a really nice (belated) birthday gift today, from my pals D and Sunshine — a free book library membership for 12 months, with Librarywala.com!

So, I get to read six books a month and do all transactions online, right from picking books to paying up (though this time I did not have to pay). And there’s home delivery, too. Today, I will receive Silverfish and The Secret Life Of Oscar Wilde. It’s the nicest present I’ve received in eons (though free alcohol by dad was nice, too).

Through the years, I’ve stopped reading as much as I would like to, and as much as I used to. But this is a great start to a journey back into the world of books. Having said that, I must add that though reading is a wonderful habit, experiencing the things we read about is just as important. Or else one’s concepts of life, places and people are all conceptual and based on someone else’s opinion. The twain must meet.

That’s why I can’t watch travel shows. I’d rather be the traveller. But food shows are better watched on television (after all one has to watch those calories).

Dropped in at the Fashion Week last night to get a whiff of what was going on. And guess what? As I entered, the shutterbugs went off. When I looked closer, what do I see but two of my ex-colleagues trying to catch a snook of any celeb passing by — including moi. He he! We shared a few laughs and then I was on my way.
