Am still reading Shantaram.
It feels like I’m take a long, winding journey through Mumbai, but not the Mumbai I know.
Shantaram explores that side of the city I was always curious about, but never quite had the courage to find out.
The book has an entire chapter dedicated to the Standing Babas who sound like a bizarre set of individuals — they stand 24*7 and smoke lots of charas.
They sleep standing, defecate standing, etc etc etc and because they haven’t sat for years, their legs are all swollen up and bursting at the seams. I was horrified and fascinated at the same time…
I’ve been intending to get to Barnes & Noble…. I can’t wait to pick up this book!
B&N won’t have the book in until 1st October…
Defecating standing up??? wow I like that one. I ‘m going to try it…..
